The COVID-19 Pandemic indiscriminately affected every single one of us, but I think that it was particularly a difficult season for couples planning to get married during the season of social distancing and lock-downs. As a photographer who cares more about the story than the picture perfect details, I believe that COVID adds a particularly interesting element to weddings that will make these photographs even more compelling and the stories of love and relationships more rich when we look back on them years from now.
Rayni + Jacob were planning a destination wedding in the mountains of Colorado, but COVID had other plans. They ended up deciding that being married was more important than waiting on that wedding they had in their mind. So, they found a rural Texas courthouse that was willing to allow them to bring their families along for an elopement, and we met up on a Tuesday afternoon in May for their ceremony. We then spent some time together walking around the downtown area of this small town, taking portraits of them as a newly married couple.
Sure, their “wedding” looks different than any other wedding I have shot over the years. But, their story is 100% uniquely theirs!
