I’ve been wanting to do a session similar to this for a while now. I simply love the idea of taking natural photos of a family in their own environment. I want my clients to be able to look back at their photos and really remember what their family was like at that moment in time. What better way to do that than by doing the session in their habitat?
Since we know and love this family and were dying for a chance to go hang out with them at their home in Austin, we decided to bring the family and make a weekend out of it. Our oldest and their oldest are pretty much kindred spirits… they both have an infatuation with all things cowboy and horse… so a weekend together was kinda the best thing ever.
I loved being able to wake up at their home, have breakfast together and then start taking photos of the kids as the family was getting ready and everyone was doing their own thing. All those moments before I tell a family to sit in a certain way and look at the camera… those are the priceless moments in my mind.
