When Jackie and I were first talking about their wedding, she gushingly described to me the wedding venue of their dreams. The word she kept coming back to over and over again was… TREES! She just absolutely loved the trees at The Addison Grove outside of Austin, TX.
As I arrived at the venue on a perfect Spring day, I immediately realized what she was so excited about. For a natural light film photographer, this venue provided tons of gorgeous vignettes with perfectly diffused light pouring through the sprawling trees that make for great photos even on a bright sunny afternoon.
The thing that made this venue come alive for me, however, was the outdoor dinner experience under the grove of trees as the sun was setting. This amazing team of vendors planned such a great experience for the wedding guests. Starting with the ceremony under several large trees overlooking a pond, guests were then taken to an outdoor cocktail hour near the modern barn where people were free to explore the property, sit around the campfire area, and even take selfies by the neighboring herd of longhorns! As the sun began to sink, guests were seating under a beautiful grove of trees for dinner, first dances and toasts (all in that golden hour natural light amazingness)! After dinner, everyone made their way indoors where a live band rocked the night away with one of the most energetic and entertaining performances I’ve ever encountered at a wedding.
All in all, it truly was the unique moments that made this wedding stand out to me. The venue and the decorations are simple the background to the true and honest story of a couple and their people. That’s what I’m there to capture!
