John + Shana | Silverton, CO

Photographing this wedding was pretty much a dream for me. My wife and I love being in the mountains! It just does something for our soul to be in the midst of such greatness and secluded from the hustle of everyday life. So, after I first talked with Shana about coming up to Colorado to shoot their wedding, I was stoked! We put it on our calendar, booked a cabin for our family, and started counting down the days (months) for this trip.

If I was setting out to plan a wedding that exemplified all things mountain/Colorado, I couldn’t have planned for a more perfect setting than this. Nuzzled near a mountain stream about 30 minutes down a dirt road outside of the quaint town of Silverton, you stumble upon Eureka Lodge. It’s an old miner’s hotel that this couple converted into a working lodge and wedding venue. There is absolutely nothing pretentious about this place… as soon as you step out of your car and breathe the mountain air, you suddenly have that overwhelming desire to grab a good novel and curl up in a chair on the balcony. This place is on my list of little unknown lodges that I would love to spend a week at, just me and Sara.

It was the perfect place for Shana + John to commit themselves to each other. Literally standing on the side of the mountain, overlooking the expansive valley below, they stood hand in hand and declared their love. Everything about the wedding seemed to fall perfectly in line with who they are and what they value. It was such a warm event to be a part of.

I could not be more excited to share these images and this story here with you. Every single photo makes me long to be back in this place. Grab a cup of coffee, relax, and enjoy…
