Even in the midst of near freezing temperatures a few weeks back, it was such a pleasure being able to work with this wonderful couple to capture their wedding story. This wedding was filled with wonderful details, fun and laughter.
As a wedding photographer that aims to tell the story no matter the cost, I was determined to not allow the the cold temps to compromise quality images that this couple would be able to look back on in 50 years and remember their unique day by. In the moment, when you feel like your arms are numb and your fingers could possibly crack right off, it’s easy for couples to think that just a few portraits of them are enough and rush through the process to get warm. As I looked around this beautiful wedding venue and saw the amazing possibilities, I simply paused… I convinced them to take 5 minutes to walk inside, put on a coat, and defrost. Then, we were going to take our time in a few beautiful spots… put a coat on when they got cold… but, I refused to allow them to rush through and be filled with regret the next morning.
We ended up having a really great 20 minute portrait session that felt very natural and fun… and boy am I glad we took a moment to clear our minds and think about what was important to them and what would be lasting.
